Manhasset sits close enough to us that the drive is genuinely short, but far enough that most people would rather not make it twice in a day. Searingtown Road connects the two directly, running south through Albertson and joining the same corridor our shop is on, so the trip is one road and about twelve minutes. For a chip repair that is nothing. For a windshield that has to cure before you drive it, it is a chunk of an afternoon, which is where our mobile side takes over.
The local pattern is a mix of commuter cars and hospital shift traffic. The Port Washington Branch platform here puts a lot of vehicles into the surrounding lots and streets each morning, and the medical campus off Community Drive runs its own cycle of arrivals and departures around the clock. Both give us long, predictable stretches where a car is parked and nobody needs it. We would rather work in those hours than ask anyone to sit in a waiting room while their glass cures.
Northern Boulevard is the backbone of Manhasset and the reason traffic here behaves the way it does. The stretch through town carries a heavy load of shoppers, and the retail frontage means constant turning movements in and out of lots. Plandome Road runs north from it as the local main street with kerbside parking and a slower pace, while Shelter Rock Road and Community Drive take the traffic south and east toward the hospital and the expressway. The railway crosses the middle of town with the station and its commuter lot beside it, filling early on weekday mornings and emptying again after six. Residential streets off Plandome Road have real driveways with room to work, which makes them straightforward for us; the retail lots along Northern Boulevard are the opposite, busy enough that we would rather not set glass in the middle of one.
