Carle Place is a small hamlet with an unusually large amount of traffic passing through it, and those two facts explain most of what we see. The residential blocks are modest and quiet. Half a mile away, Old Country Road runs a solid corridor of big-box retail with lots that turn over all day, and Glen Cove Road crosses it carrying everything heading north to the expressway. A car that lives here spends a lot of time either in a shopping lot or waiting at a light behind something heavy.
The train stop is the other half of the picture. Carle Place has its own Main Line platform, smaller and quieter than Mineola or Westbury on either side of it, and that makes its lot popular with people who would rather not fight for a space at the big stations. Those cars sit from the early train to the evening one. We would far rather work on a windshield during that stretch than have you carve two hours out of a working day, given that our doors are closed by six and all weekend.
Old Country Road is the road that defines Carle Place. It runs east to west across the southern edge with retail on both sides, constant turning traffic and long light cycles, and it meets Glen Cove Road at one of the busier junctions in this part of the county. North of that, the hamlet settles into ordinary residential streets, and the Main Line tracks cut across with the station and its lot beside them. Westbury Avenue takes the local traffic east toward Westbury proper, and the streets between it and the tracks are ordinary suburban blocks with driveways. For mobile work, the residential driveways are straightforward. The retail lots are workable too, as long as we can put the car in a corner bay away from the cart runs rather than in the middle of the row.

Two very different sources of damage meet here. From the roads, it is Old Country Road and Glen Cove Road doing the harm: stop-start traffic behind delivery trucks and contractor vehicles, with stones and sand thrown at close range because everyone is bumper to bumper. Chips picked up that way tend to be small and central, exactly the kind that spread into a long crack once the temperature drops. From the parking lots, it is impact damage. Retail lots this busy produce loose carts on windy days, doors opened into neighbouring cars, and reversing mishaps in narrow bays, which take out door glass and quarter panes rather than windshields. A hamlet this size sends us a surprising number of broken side windows for that reason.
From most of Carle Place the route is west along Old Country Road into Mineola, then north on Willis Avenue and up into Williston Park to number 708. Allow ten minutes off-peak and a bit more when the retail traffic is heavy at midday. Coming from the north end of the hamlet, Westbury Avenue over to Mineola and then Willis Avenue is the calmer option. Once you are with us the car can stay for the couple of hours a windshield needs to be installed and cured. If leaving it is impossible, give us the station lot row or the store lot where it will be parked and we will meet it there.

For a chip repair, that works nicely, since we need about half an hour and very little space.
